Thanks for the report, Cody.
Have you tried some of the other trouble-shooting tips mentioned in this article?:

Anything interesting printed in the Console? Tried it from another account? (or machine, if you have one)?

On 1.8 the bug is present every time Synergy will start. The floater is empty and shows only cover art and the rating. The problem is resolved when I go to Synergy Preferences > General > Graphic and selcet No Graphic. That brings the rest of the info back and then you can turn the graphic back on. Hope that helps.

This bug report is actually two separate issues:
1. Synergy doesn't notice when iTunes starts or stops
2. No text in floater.
Since this bug report was first filed the latter issue has been reported again and fixed. See bug #176 (which describes the blank floater problem).
I am going reword the summary for this bug so that it refers only to the first issue. I suspect a corrupt preferences file to be the most likely cause. If you can upgrade to the latest version of Synergy and then either confirm or deny the preference file hypothesis then I'll know whether to close this bug or not.
Also, it would be useful if you could clarify what you mean by "recognize when iTunes starts or stops". I interpret this as meaning "when iTunes launches or quits", but in your original summary you used "responds to iTunes" which could mean something else entirely (it may even be a duplicate of bug #39). Thanks for your attention to this because this report has been open for a while and I'd like to close it.
