Description

Have you ever used Recent Tunes from Freshly Squeezed Software? It's a freeware application that is supposed to hang out in the menu bar and it will create an HTML file with your current and recent tunes. I don't use that feature, and it would be redundant to have that support in two applications. Recent Tunes also supports doing HTTP GET requests to a server to notify when a song is playing. For example:

Giving the application this URL (using WordPress's WhatTunes plug-in): http://www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/cg-plugins/tracktunes.php?set=1&t=%t&a=%p&al=%a

Synergy would only simply send a GET request to THIS URL:

http://www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/cg-plugins/tracktunes.php? set=1&t=Aerodynamic&a=Daft%20Punk&al=Discovery

It's not Synergy's problem what the server does with that data or even if it got it correctly. It expects no response (though, it could gracefully ignore it). Obviously it supports other variables, such as genre, track time, etc.

There are a few Windows programs that do this, namely iTunesBlogger, but Recent Tunes is the only Mac application I could find that does this. I wouldn't normally be asking for something redundant like this as a feature of Synergy, but Recent Tunes seems to be broken right now (I can't get it to work at all on three different Macs). I hope this is something easy and simple that can be added to Synergy, since it obviously already includes code for web access.

    I know that there are many people affected by RecentTune's incompatibility with Tiger, and I agree that this would be the perfect addition to Synergy. All the information is already being tracked, it just needs spit out in a way that can be used server-side. RecentTunes worked almost perfectly for this and is a great example of what to implement.

    I'm not sure if this feature has been implemented, but I could not find a feature list for synergy advance. I'm a synergy classic user (since before when there was only one synergy).

    Anyway, its not like this feature would be redundant. I run synergy all the time mostly just to control itunes (change tracks/adjust ratings). I wasnt planning on upgrading, but if you could roll this feature into a release, I would definitely upgrade.

    I'm only interested in the http get part of it, not the file uploading like recent tunes.
