No changes to the Floater or Growl code have been made in Synergy recently.
If you're seeing multiple Growl notifications I suggest you check your Growl preferences in the Growl preference pane in the System Preferences. There you will see which applications are sending which notifications (possibly not even Synergy), and you'll also be able to turn off the ones that you don't want.
From the Synergy side of things, there are two "bezels" provided by Synergy. The Floater itself and the "Extra feedback" notification bezels that you see when you hit play/pause hot keys and the like. You can turn the latter on and off in the "General" tab of the Synergy preferences (the "Extra visual feedback for play, pause, next and previous track actions" checkbox).

When Synergy runs as it is configured now, if I use the hot keys to toggle to the next track, I get three concurrent bezels appear. The first is the track info bezel I have set to the bottom-left of my screen. The second is the bezel in the center of my screen with the "next track" icon. The third (the problem bezel) contains the same information as the first (with the track information, and a large synergy logo). If I turn off "extra visual feedback for play, pause, next track and last track actions", the floater containing the those signs no longer pops up, but the problem bezel with the unwanted information still appears. If I re-enable the "extra visual feedback" button and disable the floater, the floater no longer appears in the bottom left corner of the screen (which is shouldn't, being disabled), and the "visual feedback" bezel reappears at the center of the screen. BUT so does the problem third bezel which contains the track information, so disabled either one of the options has no effect. If I disable both and then toggle to the next song, I still get this track information floater in the middle of the screen, but no visual feedback or the track info bezel in the bottom-left of the monitor (the track info bezel I want!). If I completely quit synergy, this annoying third bezel goes away, but then I lose the awesome functionality of the synergy.
I hope that something in this helps diagnose this problem. Thanks!

That third problem bezel you're seeing is being provided via Growl so you'll have to turn it off in the Growl preferences.
Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Growl
Under the "Applications" tab you'll see a list of applications and the notifications they provide. There you can turn them on and off; in this case you'll be wanting to turn off the Synergy one that you don't want to see.
