   agree -- i like to rate my songs -- and this would give me a heads up to rate the song before it ends

   I agree. This would let users see where in the track we are. I use synergy in my music classes, and it would be nice to be able to say, "and we're just about to hear this musical feature" in a song where four choruses are the same, except for "that" feature. Knowing the position would be a huge benefit to me.

    I'll echo this request, perhaps clarifying that time-remaining is what I happen to care about myself. (iTunes' own approach -- toggling between track-length and time-remaining with a click -- is very natural interface. Harder to do this in synergy, since the floater isn't clickable.)

    I'd love to just have an indicator just like in iTunes, that shows how long the track is, and where at in the song is currently playing (not a timer, aka numbers, but a visual representation).
