Feature request #1938: Investigate switching to Amazon SES (Simple Email Service) from AuthSMTP

Description

Now that Amazon SES supports SMTP, it may prove to be cheaper than using AuthSMTP, and just as easy to hook up.

SES is free for up to 2,000 messages per day (although bandwidth charges apply). Beyond that, it's $0.10 per thousand messages sent.

My email volume is fairly low, so it's quite possible I can get by on the free tier.

For comparison, my current AuthSMTP plan is the "AuthSMTP 5" plan (5,000 messages/month or 500 MB/month, costing about $94/year).

No hurry on moving, as I'm currently paid up on AuthSMTP until November 2012.

    In the end, this is no longer necessary; went with Google Apps.
